Description
This is a house located at 153 Bridge Road in Lowestoft, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of gault brick and features a slate roof. The east front has two storeys and is divided into three bays, with the large central bay projecting forward beneath an open pediment. Pilaster strips mark the edges of both the central bay and the main elevation at the front and rear.
The entrance consists of a central six-panelled door with a pair of glazed upper panels, framed by a timber doorcase and topped with a narrow overlight and hood. A thin platband runs along the first-floor level. The upper floor has one six-over-six sash window with a rendered surround, while the bays on either side have one six-over-six sash window on each floor; the ground-floor windows have rendered surrounds, and the upper windows feature gauged skewback arches. The upper left window is blind. The roof eaves have wide soffits, including over the entrance bay. The hipped roof is complemented by two symmetrical ridge stacks.
At the rear, the house has a flat elevation with three bays, featuring six-over-six sash windows, with rendered surrounds on the ground floor. The central ground-floor section has a single-storey canted bay window.
