Description

This memorial, located approximately 2 meters south-west of the south-west angle of the Church of St. Mary in Middleton, dates from 1840 and commemorates Robert Jarred, who passed away in that year, and his wife Christian, who died in 1861. It is made of limestone and features a double-shaped head with a relief scene depicting Abraham and Isaac in a forest. The scene includes Abraham holding a knife and fire, an angel in a cloud, and two servants with an ass. Below this panel are Tuscan pilasters that flank two raised inscription plaques, both shaped at the head and foot, with a flying angel holding a trumpet and scroll in the spandrel.
