Description

The Crown Public House is an 18th-century public house located on Lynn Road in Middleton. It is constructed from colourwashed brick and features pantiles. The building has a double range design, with the front range consisting of five bays and two storeys. The roof has been renewed with concrete pantiles, and there are end internal stacks, with an axial stack positioned to the left of the right doorway. A platband runs across the building, and both the ground and first floors have three renewed three-light flush casements with leaded lights. The ground floor includes doorways under segmental heads between the windows, and there is a blocked opening to the left. The first floor has four blocked openings, two of which are recessed. The left return is made of pink colourwashed carstone, while the right return is constructed from carstone, both featuring blocked first-floor openings.

The rear range has two bays and two storeys, built from carstone with brick dressings and gable parapets. It has an end internal stack, and the first floor is raised in small carstone. The ground floor features a tripartite sash window with glazing bars to the left, surrounded by red brick and topped with a gault brick skewback arch. To the right, there is a three-light casement under a cambered arch, with a doorway situated between the two windows. The first floor has sashes with glazing bars. Additionally, the rear of the front range on the right side has two inserted leaded cross casements on the ground floor and sashes with glazing bars on the first floor.
