Description
Church Close House is an early 19th-century house located on Church Walk in Burnham Market. It is constructed of gault brick and covered with smut grey pantiles. The building features a two-storey, double pile plan with a three-bay facade. There are two ground floor and three first floor sash windows with glazing bars, all set under flat rubbed brick arches. The central bay and the end pilasters project forward, while the intervening bays are recessed.
The entrance is marked by a wooden doorcase that includes fluted pilasters, capitals, and a projecting cornice. The door itself is a six-panel design with raised and fielded panels, two of which are glazed. A wooden modillion eaves cornice runs along the roofline, which is hipped and has two brick stacks on the rear valley. Inside, the ground floor room to the west features a reeded fireplace from around 1820, complete with angle paterae. There is also a four-bay west return, which serves as a second service pile to the south.
