Description
Ivy Farmhouse is a farmhouse from the 17th century with an extension dated 1733. It is constructed of coursed galletted carstone with brick dressings and an eaves course, topped with pantiles and gable parapets. The building has three bays and two storeys, along with a two-bay, two-storey extension to the right that features a lean-to and an added range at the rear.
The principal facade faces east and includes large four-light casements under flat arches in bays one and three. In bay two, there is a renewed doorway with a two-light casement above on the first floor, and a small inserted window in the chimney bay to the right. The two-storey extension to the right has a cast iron plaque displaying the monogram ? YP and the date May 28, 1733, with two casements on the ground floor.
The left return to the south showcases 17th-century carstone rubble with brick quoins and an external stack made of galletted carstone blocks. The gable has been raised from one and a half to two storeys, with an inserted doorway to the left and a blocked first-floor window above.
At the rear, there is a one-bay, two-storey 19th-century range behind bay two, featuring a facing of small carstone with brick dressings. This section has two large openings on the south and west sides, with the ground floor openings under flat arches. The rear facade displays varied materials, including 17th and 18th-century brick, galletted and ungalletted carstone rubble, with upper courses in brick and a vertical join. The fenestration is varied and scattered, including a semi-circular headed fixed stair light with glazing bars.
