Description
The clock tower at the junction of Congham Road with Lynn Road is a memorial structure built in 1897. It is made of carstone and features a lead-covered spire that rises approximately 8 meters high, topped with a wind vane. Each of the hexagonal facades measures about 1.35 meters wide and is faced with small carstone. At each corner, there is a stepped buttress made of carstone blocks. The alternate facades have a gablet above a blank pointed arch that contains the clock face.
The north facade includes a Gothick doorway with a door and two small windows above it. To the left of this facade is a limestone plaque inscribed with "1837 / GOD SAVE / THE / QUEEN / 1897." On the right facade, there is another limestone plaque that reads "ERECTED / BY / THE / INHABITANTS / OF GRIMSTON / AND CONGHAM."
