Description
Hall Farm Cottages are two cottages built around 1800. The south front and returns are made of red brick, while the north and returns are constructed from flint, topped with smut and red pantiles. The cottages are two storeys high with a three-bay hipped roof in the center and lower two-storey lean-to wings on either side. They reflect the architectural style of the contemporary Holkham Estate, designed by Samuel Wyatt.
The south front features two ground floor and three first floor sash windows with glazing bars, all set beneath flat rubbed brick arches. The central door is adorned with flat pilaster strips and upper roundels, topped by an arched sunburst fanlight and supported by console brackets that hold a flat pentice canopy. The door itself is a nine-panel raised and fielded design. The slightly set-back lower wings have a single ground floor window, which is blocked on the west side, and a sash window with glazing bars on the east, both positioned under cambered rubbed brick arches.
The facade is unified by a first floor platband and a dentil eaves cornice. The wings have lean-to hipped roofs, with two eaves level stacks located at the center and a single stack on the east wing. The rear of the cottages is constructed from flint with brick dressings, with the west wing being two storeys high and the east wing being a single storey.
