Description
Black Swan House is a former public house that consists of three sections, with the northern and southern parts dating from the 17th century and the central section from around 1700, while some details are from the 19th century. The building is constructed from whitewashed flint rubble with brick dressings, featuring a brick central section and red pantiled roofs. It stands two storeys tall.
On the ground floor, there are three 2-light plate glass windows from around 1900, which have arched heads and a single central glazing with three upper light glazing bars. The first floor contains four 2-light casements and two 3-light casements. There are also two blocked fine windows with brick dressings on the south side. A plat band runs across the centre of the first floor, and there is a dentil eaves cornice. The roof is steeply pitched, with coped brick gables and two end stacks. Additionally, there is a single-storey wing attached to the south, which is also made of whitewashed flint and has a pantiled roof.
