Description

The former gateway to Docking Hall, located 10 metres west of Gardener's Cottage, dates from the mid-18th century and is built of stone ashlar. This single-storey structure is designed in the Palladian style, featuring chamfered rustication that forms the piers. It has flat capitals with a Greek key pattern supporting a keyed arch, which includes a central raised keystone. Above, there is a projecting Doric cornice topped with a simplified pediment gable roof. The gateway has a simple boarded gate and served as the family entrance to the parish church from Docking Hall. The walls attached to the east and west, as well as Gardener's Cottage, are not of special interest.
