Description

A barn dating to the late 18th century, located on the south side of Old Yarmouth Road in Filby. The barn is constructed of brick with a thatched roof and a brick plinth. The east side features a pair of full-height timber doors positioned slightly left of centre, with a window to the left and right, now without their original woodwork. A gabled roof is present, with some slight deterioration visible in the gable heads. The west side has a matching pair of full-height double timber doors. Set within the wall to the right of the doors is an ashlar achievement displayed within a square surround and surmounted by a segmental pediment. The pediment is inscribed with the letters and numerals “RMS 1813”, representing the Yarmouth Brewery. The roof is supported by tie beams with knuckle braces, and a level is floored above.
