Description
The barn at The Homestead dates from 1686 and is constructed of brick with an asbestos roof. It is a single-storey structure featuring a gabled transept entrance on the east side, which has double timber doors. The gable above the entrance is supported by kneelers and shows brick tumbling. On either side of the transept are lean-to outshuts made of brick, which have pantiled roofs and are late 18th-century additions. The barn has a gabled main roof, and the west elevation includes slit ventilation lights spaced at intervals. The western roof slope has four glazed panels. The tumbling in the north and south gable heads has been rebuilt in the 19th century. The south gable displays tie irons shaped as the numerals 1 6 8 6. The interior was not accessible during the time of the re-survey. The Homestead itself is not listed.
