Description
The Market Tavern Public House is an early 20th-century establishment located in Great Yarmouth. It is constructed from rendered and colorwashed brick and features a slate roof. The building stands four storeys high and has a two-window range. The public house frontage includes two four-centred doorways and paired plate-glass windows with curved transoms, separated by Ionic pilasters. Above the doors, there is a fascia board with pediments.
On the first floor, there are two bay windows with curved corners and modified Venetian windows. String courses run between the floors above. The second floor is illuminated by two tripartite horned sash windows without glazing bars, set within eared and shouldered surrounds that have scrolled overthrows. The third floor has two similar windows, but these do not feature the overthrows. The building is topped with a modillion eaves cornice and a parapet, and it has a gabled roof with internal gable-end stacks. There are large late 20th-century extensions at the rear.
Inside, the space has been opened up into a large room, although some original fittings have been retained.
