Description
This is a house located at 68 Market Place in Great Yarmouth, dating from the mid-17th century with an early 18th-century facade. The building was altered and repaired in 1984. It features red brick laid in Flemish bond with burnt headers and some flint at the rear, topped with pantile roofs. The two-storey facade has a three-window range. A panelled door is positioned to the left of centre, sheltered by a hood on consoles. There are two sashes to the right and one to the left, all dating from 1984 and featuring 9/9 glazing bars. The 18th-century flush frames have exposed boxes. A moulded platband at the first floor was rebuilt in 1984. The first floor has three 9/9 sashes, also from 1984, but set within 18th-century boxes. The roof is bell-based and gabled, with an internal gable-end stack on the south side. The south gable has three blocked windows, with the upper two under segmental heads. There is a parallel block to the rear that has been much altered, now fitted with 20th-century casements and with a dormer removed. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, the house belonged to Miles Corbet, a regicide who died in 1662.
