Description
The farmhouse dates from the early 17th century, with later alterations and a 19th-century refronting. It is constructed of red brick, with the south facade featuring knapped and galleted flint and brick dressings. The roof is steeply pitched and tiled. The farmhouse is two storeys and has an attic. The south facade has five bays, featuring 3- and 4-light windows with wooden mullions and transoms; casements were added in the 20th century. The windows are set in chamfered brick reveals. Bays 2 and 4 are slightly advanced, each with a steep stepped gable. The left-hand bay has a 4-centred arched doorway with a 20th-century glazed door. Evidence of altered openings is visible in the walls. The east and west gables are crow-stepped, with moulded brick eaves corbels. Internal gable stacks have twin diagonally-set square shafts; an axial stack is located off-centre to the east. The earlier gable brickwork displays diaper-patterning; the east gable shows blocked attic openings. The west gable openings have been extensively altered and blocked, with a stepped parapet carried down over a catslide lean-to at the north-west corner. The lean-to has 19th-century segmental casements. A small hipped stair projection is located to the north-east, with a lower lean-to on the west side. A brick boundary wall is attached to the road, featuring a plinth and saddleback coping. Square piers are topped with capping stones. At the east end of the wall is a doorway leading to the garden, with a crow-stepped gable over a 4-centred archway.
