Description
Palm Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse constructed of red brick, featuring a steeply-pitched roof covered with black-glazed pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, with its east facade being a refronting that is five windows wide and unevenly spaced. The windows are fitted with 20th-century metal casements in openings that have cambered arches, which are rendered over.
To the north, there is a 19th-century porch that is off-centre and stands at one and a half storeys, topped with a shaped gable. The porch includes a rendered semicircular entrance arch and an attic casement in the gable. The original entrance doorframe is notable for its double quadrant-moulding and stepped stops.
The attic features two dormers, each with 2-light casements and semicircular pediments. Internal chimney stacks are located at the north gable and off-centre to the south, both designed in a T-shape with rebuilt tops on moulded bases. The gables have parapets with moulded eaves corbels, and the north gable is crow-stepped.
On the south gable, there are 20th-century metal glazed doors and casements on the ground and first floors, but remnants of earlier pediment openings can still be seen. An attic window with three lights features ovolo-moulded brick mullions and a transom, with a line of pediment above it. Additionally, there is a catslide roof over a lean-to at the rear, and in the west wall, a small 2-light 'fire' window has a brick mullion and a chamfered reveal.
