Description
The Wood Dalling War Memorial is a granite structure located in the northern part of the churchyard of St Andrew's Church, which is a Grade I listed building. The memorial features a wheel-head cross that rises from a rectangular shaft, which is set on a tapering plinth. This plinth is positioned on a low step within a shallow, square kerb. The face of the wheel-head is decorated with a cross carved in low relief, and the front of the shaft has a shallow raised panel.
On the front face of the plinth, there is an inscription that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918 THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE." The names of the fallen soldiers are inscribed on either side of the plinth.
Additionally, there is a stone plaque set at an angle at the front of the memorial that states: "ALSO IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO DIED IN THE WAR 1939 – 1945" followed by five names.
