Description
Corpusty Lodge, West, is a lodge cottage located on Corpusty Road, dating from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with stuccoed dressings and features a roof made of corrugated clay tiles. It has one and a half storeys and a rectangular plan, with shaped gables at the north and south ends that have flat coping. The eaves are moulded and oversail the courses, while the quoins are stuccoed. There is an eaves parapet with a stepped brick corbel-table.
The lodge has three-light windows on both the ground floor and in the attic, with a recess featuring a terracotta shield between the openings. The ground floor window includes painted brick mullions with a hollow chamfer. The central entrance bay, which faces the driveway, is slightly advanced and features a semi-circular headed doorway with a stuccoed surround. The entrance includes a six-panel door with a blind fanlight above it, and there is a chamfered recess above the door displaying the initials WB in terracotta.
On the roof, there is a central chimney stack positioned astride the ridge, with two square chimney shafts set diagonally. The property is enclosed by a coped screen wall at the gateway, which has a square gate pier topped with an urn finial. There is a pair of iron gates with spiked railings and a dog guard. To the west, there is a garden screen wall with a square end pier featuring a ball finial, and a semicircular arched opening leads into the garden. Additionally, there is a lean-to store against the wall, covered with pantiles, which has an entrance door on its west side.
