Description

Grange Lodge, South is a lodge cottage located at Heydon Park, built in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with a roof that is concealed behind a parapet, featuring later pantiled lean-tos. It is a single-storey structure that is square in shape.

Facing the drive, there is a central doorway with a moulded stucco four-centred arch, which is set in a projecting brick surround. Above the door, there is a terracotta shield set in a square recess. On the west side of the doorway, a small 20th-century casement window has been inserted. To the west of the doorway, there is a tall central three-light window with chamfered mullions and a transom, also set in a projecting brick surround, with leaded glazing in the upper lights. A brick string course runs along the base of the plain coped parapet.

On the south side, there is a chimney stack with two diagonally-set square shafts. The pantiled lean-tos are located behind a screen wall to the south and feature one and two-light casements with glazing bars. To the north, there is a short screen wall with half-round coping, flanked by square gate piers that have corbelled and stepped caps topped with ball finials, which mark the pedestrian and vehicle gateways. Wooden gates complete the entrance.
