Description

Widows Row is a range of five estate cottages built in the early to mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of red brick and feature a pantiled roof. They are 1½ storeys high with a symmetrical south elevation. Each cottage has a boarded entrance door and a three-light ground floor casement window with ovolo-moulded mullions. Above each door, there is an attic dormer with a parapet-gable and a two-light casement window with cross-glazing bars. The eaves have a brick dentilled course. There are two axial chimney stacks with twin square shafts and linked caps, while the east and west gables have internal stacks. The east gable also features an additional external flue. The gable parapets have tumbling-in. At each end of the row, there are pantiled lean-tos with screen walls to the garden that have semicircular-headed openings. The north wall of the cottages forms a boundary to the churchyard. The cottages are included for their group value.
