Description
Corpusty Lodge, East is a lodge cottage located on Corpusty Road, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick with stuccoed dressings and features a roof made of corrugated clay tiles. The building is 1½ storeys tall and has a rectangular plan. The north and south gables are shaped with flat coping, and the eaves are moulded, oversailing the courses, with stuccoed quoins. There is an eaves parapet with a stepped brick corbel-table.
The lodge has 3-light windows on both the ground floor and in the attic within the gables, with a recess that contains a terracotta shield between the openings. The ground floor window features painted brick mullions with a hollow chamfer. The central entrance bay, which faces the driveway, is slightly advanced and has a semi-circular headed doorway with a stuccoed surround. This doorway contains a 6-panel door topped by a blind fanlight. Above the door is a chamfered recess displaying the initials WB in terracotta.
A central chimney stack is located astride the ridge, with two square chimney shafts set diagonally. The property is enclosed by a coped screen wall at the gateway, which includes a square gate pier topped with an urn finial, and a pair of iron gates with spiked railings and a dog guard. To the east, there is a garden screen wall with a square end pier featuring a ball finial, and a semicircular arched opening leading to the garden. Additionally, there is a lean-to store against the wall, covered with pantiles, which has an entrance door on its east side.
