Description
Eagle Lodge, South is a lodge cottage located on Holt Road in Heydon, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a roof that is concealed behind an eaves parapet. The building is one storey high and has a square plan. Openings are present on the north, east, and west sides, each set in projecting brick surrounds.
On the east and west sides, there are tall three-light windows with hollow-chamfered mullions and a transom. The north side features a four-centred arched doorway within a square-headed opening, above which is a terra-cotta shield set in a square recess. A string course of moulded brick runs above the heads of the windows, and the eaves parapet is tall and coped.
There is a chimney stack on the south side that has two diagonally-set square shafts. A lower range extends to the south and has a castellated parapet, with three-light mullion-and-transom windows; the window in the north wall has a square drip mould and appears to be older or re-used. Additionally, there is a short screen wall leading to a square gate pier topped with a stone eagle.
