Description
The Old Water Mill is a water mill that has been converted into a masonic lodge. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of gault brick beneath a pantiled roof. The building stands three storeys high and is arranged in five bays. The ground floor features four 20th-century windows and two blocked doors, all of which have segmental heads. On the first floor, there are four 20th-century metal casements and a loading door, also under segmental heads, along with one blind window. The second floor includes three 20th-century top-hung windows and three blind windows, all under square heads. The roof is gabled and has a large gabled weatherboarded lucam. The east gable contains four 20th-century top-hung metal windows and a 20th-century door. A tail race flows through two rounded arches beneath a platform bridge made of Flemish bond gault brick, with flint splays. The interior is noted for retaining no machinery.
