Description
The Tottington War Memorial is a First World War memorial located in a woodland clearing off Watton Road. It is made of Portland stone and features iron railings. The memorial consists of a square stone pillar topped with a moulded pyramidal cap, which has floral relief carvings around the cornice and cable decoration at the top. This pillar stands on a three-tiered moulded foot that rests on a single-step base. The memorial is enclosed by gated iron railings with arrow-head finials.
The inscription on the memorial is incised and reads: "ERECTED/ IN PROUD AND GRATEFUL MEMORY/ OF THE GALLANT SONS/ OF TOTTINGTON/ WHO FOUGHT FOR THEIR COUNTRY/ IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE/ THESE DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE/ (NAMES)// IN HONOUR OF THE RETURNED/ (NAMES)."
