Description
Merton Hall Stables, built in 1898 by Milne and Hall of London, are now used as flats and offices. The building is constructed of brick and features a plain tiled roof. It stands two to three storeys high, with a timbered central entrance that has a double jetty and gabled timber-framed upper storeys filled with brick and brick nogging.
There is a canted oriel window with casements and leaded lights, along with a timber casement beneath bargeboards. On either side of the entrance, there are stone cross mullioned casements, some of which have been replaced. The building has a moulded brick string course and a similar eaves cornice adorned with dentils. Small casements can be found on the upper storey beneath the eaves, and there are two gabled dormers through the eaves on each side, also featuring nogging.
To the right of the entrance, there is a quadripartite octagonal stack with star caps, and a similar double stack is located to the left. The building has stepped gables on both the north and south sides.
