Description

This 18th-century milestone, made of Portland stone, is located on the pavement next to the front wall near the north end of the range at Guessens, Welwyn. It stands approximately 1 metre high and 25 centimetres wide. The milestone features a Roman-lettered inscription that reads: 'XXV MILES from LONDON to HITCHIN IX to BEDFORD XXV'.
