Description
This milestone, dating from the late 18th century, is located opposite Stonehenge on the north side of the A344 road. It is made of limestone and features a rectangular shaft with a worn top. The front of the milestone has an inscription that reads "LXXX / Miles from / LONDON / II from / Amesbury." There is also an earlier inscription on the bottom of the front, which is now upside-down, reading "AMESBURY."
