Description
Great Bragman's Farm House is a house dating from the 16th century, which was floored and heated in the 17th century, partially cased and extended in the 18th century, and altered in the 20th century. It has a timber frame with red brick nogging and casing, and part of it is weatherboarded. The roof is tiled. The building features a two-bay open hall with a two-bay lower cross wing and stands two storeys high with a cellar.
The entrance is located in a 20th-century gabled porch at the left end of the hall, which showcases exposed framing, including posts, studs, a mid rail, and tension braces, along with early brick nogging and flint in the plinth. The house has 20th-century two-light timber casements. The left cross wing has a taller ridge and features 18th-century brick casing, with a three-light casement on the ground floor that has a cambered relieving arch, and a two-light casement on the first floor, along with a cement-rendered gable. There is an external stack on the left return and an inserted stack on the front pitch at the right end of the hall.
To the right, there is a 17th or 18th-century bay with weatherboarding over a brick ground floor and a blocked entrance. A lean-to outshut is present at the rear right. The interior has not been inspected. Attached to the left front of the house is a weatherboarded outbuilding with a stable door at the front.
