Description
This large timber-framed barn at Kettlewell's Farm dates from the late 18th century and incorporates elements from the 17th and 18th centuries in its eastern lower range. The barn features a timber frame with weatherboarding and a plain tile roof. It consists of five bays and has a double purlin roof, with upper purlins supported by collars and lower purlins featuring diagonal braces from the ties. A gabled cart entrance is located on the north side, flanked by contemporary lean-tos. At the eastern end, the barn has a 17th-century red brick plinth that continues beneath part of an adjoining three-bay range, with the end bay likely built as a two-storey granary. There is also a small addition from the 19th century.
