Description
This is a milepost located on the north side of the road, south of Oaklands College. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of cast iron, painted white. The milepost has a triangular shape with an open back and a triangular top. The face is chamfered below. It features inscriptions on the top indicating the distance to Hatfield (3 miles), on the left side to Hertford (10 miles), and on the right side to St Albans (2 miles) and Reading (47 miles).
