Description
Jessamine Cottage is a mid-19th century building located on St Michael's Street. It was constructed on a church plan, featuring an aisled nave with a clerestory and a chancel-like extension. The architectural style is similar to that of the nearby school. The cottage has a high-pitched roof and pent roofs over the "aisles," which are adorned with alternating bands of plain and "fishscale" tiles. The walls are made of flint, complemented by a yellow brick cornice, quoins, window dressings, and a plinth. A central brick chimney with four shafts is present. The windows exhibit irregular fenestration, consisting of one-, two-, and three-light casement windows, some of which include transoms. Access to the cottage is through a small porch. Jessamine Cottage, along with St Michael's Church of England School and St Michael's Church, forms a cohesive group.
