Description

Oaken House is a 17th-century timber-framed house of two storeys and four windows, located on the east side of St Michael’s Street. The house has a high-pitched, tiled roof with an old chimney stack featuring angular projections on either side. It was refronted and now has a modern plaster exterior, with a rendered plinth. The windows are primarily 18th-century-style sash windows with glazing bars in flush, moulded frames, although one modern casement window is present to the left of the front door. A set of four steps leads to the front door, which consists of six fielded panels beneath a console bracketed cornice hood.
