Description
St Michael's Cottage, located on Bray Church Lane, is a Grade II listed building that dates back to the late 16th century but was mostly rebuilt in the early 19th century. The cottage is constructed of brick and features a queen post roof truss that is visible in the east gable, topped with an old tile gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan and is situated next to the lych gate on the west side. The building has two storeys, with a one-storey extension on the south side.
At the top, there is a ridge chimney with three diamond-shaped shafts set on a weathered rectangular base, complete with offset heads and clay pots. The east front of the cottage is gabled and adorned with 19th-century moulded bargeboards. On the first floor, there is a two-light diamond-leaded casement window that projects slightly and is topped with a small pent tiled roof.
In the centre of the east front, there is a 19th-century gabled porch that originally had a planked door, which is now disused. The entrance to the cottage has been moved to the internal angle on the south side. Additionally, there are 19th-century spear-headed iron railings on a small brick plinth wall, which adjoin the east side and include a gate in the return section.
