Description

Dormer Cottage is a timber-framed cottage, originally dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is partly encased in painted brick and has an old tile roof. It sits between numbers 3 and 4 (Yew Tree Cottage) and the Hinds Head Cottage, which are listed separately. The cottage has a rectangular plan comprising two framed bays. It is two storeys high, with a cut-down ridge chimney. The east front is symmetrical, with two bays. It has a black painted plinth and the timber frame is exposed on the first floor, with brick underbuilding below. The ground floor has two 3-light casement windows with cambered heads. A planked entrance door is situated between the ground-floor windows, set within a moulded architrave frame.
