Description

This milepost, located opposite Moreton End Lane in Harpenden, dates from the mid-19th century and was made by Brown and Green in Luton. It is constructed from white-painted cast iron and features raised blue Roman-style lettering. The milepost has a triangular shape and is open at the back. The chamfered top face displays the distance to London as 26 miles, while the left side indicates St Albans is 5 miles away, and the right side shows Luton is also 5 miles away.
