Description

Orchard Side is an 18th-century house located on the southwest side of Barley Smith End. It is constructed mainly of chalk with clay lump, and has a roughcast finish. The steeply pitched roof is covered in machine tiles. The house has two bays, with a central 19th-century gabled porch sheltering the entrance. The right bays feature ground-floor horizontal sliding sash windows in moulded frames, and the left gable end has a ground-floor horizontal sliding sash. The first floor has two-light casement windows. A brick internal stack is located at the right end. A single-storey lean-to outshut is present at the rear, with a later flat-roofed addition. Rear elevations of the main block feature two-light casement windows. The property is included on the list for its group value.
