Description
Ravello Rose Cottage is a house that was once two or three separate dwellings, dating from the early 18th century and altered in the early and later 20th century. It is constructed of clay lump, primarily chalk, and has a roughcast finish. The cottage features a steeply pitched thatched roof and consists of four bays across two storeys. The windows are horizontal sliding sashes set in flush moulded frames, with some small pane casements. On the ground floor, there are two early 20th-century porches that have been converted into bay windows with small pane glazing and sham framing beneath tiled gabled heads. The cottage has a central axial ridge stack, a hipped outshut on the left end with a plank door and a three-light casement in the return, and a machine-tiled lean-to outshut on the right end with an early 20th-century tiled entrance porch. The gable ends display exposed plates. Inside, there is a runout chamfered axial bearer. The cottage is included for its group value.
