Description
Holloways is a house that dates from the mid to late 17th century, with extensions made in the 18th and 20th centuries. It has a timber frame set on a brick base, with weatherboarding and rendering. The steeply pitched roofs are mostly covered with machine-made tiles. The house consists of two bays and two storeys, featuring an early continuous lean-to outshut at the rear. The end facing the road has a half hip and an exposed 17th-century brick plinth, along with two-light flush frame small pane casements and visible plates and purlins. There is a catslide roof over the lean-to addition. The right side of the house has a former entrance porch with a raking head and three-light casements to the right. An external stack is located on the rear gable end, leading to a lower 20th-century addition that has three bays, one storey, and an attic, featuring two and three-light casements and an entrance towards the rear, along with a two-light dormer with a raking head. At the rear, there is an additional wing with an old tiled roof. Inside, some of the framing is exposed, showing tension braces and an ogee stop-chamfered bearer.
