Description
Blythe Cottage and South Cottage are a pair of houses built in the 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. They feature a timber frame on a brick base, covered in roughcast, and have a steeply pitched roof made of machine tiles. Each house has two bays and stands two storeys tall. The entrances are located at the ends and are topped with brackets supporting raking tiled hoods. Blythe Cottage, on the left, has a three-light flush frame casement on the ground floor and a two-light flush frame casement on the first floor. South Cottage, on the right, has 20th-century two-light casements. There is a central ridge stack and one-storey early lean-to outshut additions on both gable ends, along with later outshuts at the rear. Inside, some of the framing is exposed and features tension braces. The cottages are included for their group value.
