Description

A pair of farm cottages forming an L-shaped group, dating from the late 18th century. Green’s Cottage is constructed of chequered red brick with a plain tile roof. The cottage is two storeys high and features six sash windows with thick glazing bars and wide frames, the lower windows being recessed. A floor band and brick dentilled eaves are notable features. A door is positioned off-centre, set within a round-headed relieving arch. The brickwork on the right end of the cottage appears plainer, likely indicating construction during the early 19th century. A double-pile block extends from the rear left of Green’s Cottage; this section is two storeys high with attics, and has a mansard roof with weatherboarded cladding facing the road. A three-light leaded casement window is present on the north-east side. The building is believed to have previously served as the laundry block for Codicote Lodge.
