Description
The garden and barn walls to Codicote Lodge, located alongside High Street and Heath Lane, date from the 17th and 18th centuries. Constructed of red brick, the wall stretches approximately 170 metres along High Street. The shorter section at the southern end features much 17th-century brickwork and half-height buttresses. About 75 metres north of Heath Lane, the wall projects forward and continues with a late 18th-century section that has a chequered red brick pattern. It includes flat buttresses at 6-metre intervals and is topped with pyramid coping. The return wall at the northern end is not included in this listing. At the southern end, the wall returns along Heath Lane to connect with Green's Cottage, which is largely 17th-century. There are two square openings leading to a 20th-century barn on the rear side. The wall is noted for its group value within the town.
