Description
East Barn and attached outbuilding at Friends Green Farm is a barn and outbuilding dating from the early 18th century. The structure features a timber frame set on red brick sills, with the barn being dark weatherboarded and the outbuilding having an exposed frame with roughcast panels. Both buildings have steep old red tile roofs, with hips at the north end of the barn and the west end of the outbuilding. The barn, which is a tall three-bay structure, is located on the east side of the yard and faces west, featuring double doors in the middle. It has unjowled posts, straight braces to tie-beams, and a single purlin on each slope clasped by a collar with inclined queen-struts. The wallplate is joined with long lower face-halved bladed scarf joints. The lower outbuilding extends northwest from the northern part of the front of the barn and is used for garage and storage.
