Description

Rowanbutt Cottage is a house dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and renovations and an extension added in the late 20th century. The original timber frame has largely been replaced with brick, and the sills are black stuccoed. The roughcast exterior is complemented by a red brick garage and a link to the south and east front of a north extension. The roof is steeply pitched, covered in old red tiles, with a half-hipped design, a hipped garage roof, and a half-hipped roof to the north extension.

The original part of the house is a 1 1/2-story, 2-cell structure with an internal chimney and a lobby entry plan, facing south. There's a stair to the rear of the chimney stack. The 1 1/2-story north extension is set back on the east front. Dormers are visible on the south roof slope. The cottage features a 3-light casement window to the right of the entrance link, a 2-light casement on the east end, and a 3-light window on the extension. All windows have flush casements with small panes.
