Description

Weston Manor is a large house that now functions as both a house and a flat in the northern wing. The northern wing dates back to the 16th century, while the front block was built around 1830. There were extensions and alterations to the northern wing in the late 19th century, and low wings were added to the front block around 1910. The northern wing features a timber frame that is roughcast, with roughcast brick cladding on the ground floor and plain margins. It has a steep old red tile roof. The front block is made of red brick with extensions and has hipped slate roofs.

The building is an irregular two-storey, L-shaped group set in its own grounds, facing west behind a tall red brick wall. The oldest part consists of two western bays of the northern wing, which has a side wall south chimney and 19th-century windows in wider openings. There is an early eastern extension of one bay with an internal eastern gable chimney, followed by a wider late 19th-century eastern extension that features a gabled dormer on the northern side and a lean-to on the northern side of the older parts of the northern wing.

The symmetrical two-storey, double pile front block adjoins the southwest corner of the northern wing and faces west. It has three windows across the front with a central entrance and internal gable chimneys. The building features a chamfered plinth, red brick chequered with black headers, flat gauged arches (non-radial), and recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes on the ground floor and 4/8 on the first floor. The round-headed entrance has a moulded panelled door and a semi-circular hood supported by shaped brackets. The eaves overhang has a painted soffit.

Single-storey flanking wings to the north and south have half-octagonal projecting fronts, with the northern wing linked by a projecting single-storey bay across the left-hand part of the front of the main block. Photographs of the house show the very heavy timbering of the northern wing, which has been exposed for repairs.
