Description
Elm Paddocks is a house that dates back to the 17th century or earlier, with some alterations and brick casing from the 18th century. The building features a timber frame that is roughcast with plain margins, and the ground floor front and crosswing are finished in red brick with blue headers arranged in a chequered pattern. There is a large 20th-century brick porch located at the angle of the wings. The house has steep old red tile roofs and is a two-storey, T-shaped structure set back from the road, facing east. It includes a two-window-long hall range with a rear outshut and a long northern crosswing. An internal chimney is positioned at the junction of the wings, with a lobby entrance beside it, and there is a later internal chimney on the southern gable. The windows are flush three-light leaded casements with rectangular panes, and the porch features panelled double doors with side windows. Inside, there is an open fireplace in the main stack of the hall, exposed timber framing, and a chamfered beam in the southern room.
