Description
Town Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse with a brick front that likely covers an older building, and a 19th-century brick casing on the northern crosswing. The main range features plum brick with a chequered pattern of blue headers and light red brick dressings, while the northern wing is made of red brick from the 19th century. The house has steep old red tile roofs, hipped at the southern end and half-hipped on the northern wing.
This large, two-storey T-shaped house is set back from the road and faces east. The main range consists of six bays, with a lobby entrance located by an internal chimney in the third bay from the south, and a gabled projecting stair turret situated behind it. The internal chimney of the northern crosswing projects slightly to the front and more to the rear, featuring a hip-roofed turret in the rear angle with the main range.
The eastern front of the main range includes a plinth, a plat band, and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The ground floor has flat gauged arches, while the first floor features segmental arches. The windows are casement style with two and three lights, although the first and third first-floor windows from the southern end are blocked. The entrance door has six panels and is set in a single moulded surround. On the western front of the crosswing, there is a door to the left of a ground floor window and one centrally located on the first floor, with recessed margin-light sash windows.
