Description

This house, likely dating to the 17th century or earlier, was expanded in the early 19th century with a western block and later received a 20th-century extension to the north-east rear. The house is timber-framed with roughcast plaster, while the western block is painted brick. It has steep red tile roofs, with a lower pitch on the western block. The main part of the house is a 1 1/2-story, 2-cell structure with an internal chimney, facing south, with its eastern gable facing the road. The western block is two stories and has an internal western gable chimney and a catslide roof extension to the rear. A single-story rear wing extends from the north-east corner. The south front of the older part of the house has two windows and an entrance to the left of the left-hand window. There are two gabled dormers in the roof slope and a large chimney with a moulded base and a diagonally set, square shaft. A gabled timber porch provides entry. The windows are 3-light flush casements with leaded glazing. The western wing has higher eaves, with one 2-light casement window under a segmental arch on each floor. The east gable facing the roadside has similar 3-light casement windows on each floor and a 2-light window to the rear extension.
