Description

Ivy Lodge is a house from the 18th century that was remodeled in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame sitting on a low brick sill, with plastered walls, low pitched slate roofs, and wide painted eaves soffits. The building is tall, two stories high, and has three windows along the front, set back behind a former public house that faces north into its garden. To the left, there is a narrow two-story wing with two windows, also set back.

The house has an internal chimney and a lobby-entry plan, which was widened at the front by about 2 meters in the early 19th century. The new northern front includes an entrance to the right of a two-story bow window, which has curved flush sash windows with 10/10 panes. Similar flush box sash windows with 10/10 panes are found on each floor at the ends of the main range. The entrance features a four-panel molded early 19th-century door set in a wide reeded surround with corner blocks and paterae, topped by a Gothick ornamental band. A Roman Doric porch with slender timber columns adds to the façade.

Inside, the house has an 18th-century surround for the hall fireplace, along with a reeded dado rail and casing for the bow window. The parlour to the west has a reeded door surround with paterae blocks. The staircase rises behind the chimney from the hall.
