Description
Swaynes Cottage is a late 17th-century house with a 19th-century rear extension and tilehanging. It is a timber-frame building set on a stepped brick plinth; the front is roughcast, while the ground floor at the south end is red brick and the upper floor at each end has scallop red tilehanging. The house is two storeys high, with two cells arranged in an internal-chimney, lobby-entry plan, and facing east onto the road.
The symmetrical east front has moulding below deep plaster coves at the eaves, with two windows on each floor. The windows are three-light flush leaded casements with rectangular panes and iron opening lights. The central entrance has a six-panel door in a moulded surround, topped with a full entablature and a dentilled flat hood supported on shaped brackets.
