Description
Bachelors is a house, originally two dwellings, dating from the mid to late 17th century and altered in the 20th century. It has a timber frame that is rendered and features a half hipped thatched roof. The building has paired two-cell lobby entries and is one storey with attics. The entrance is located in the centre of the right bays, featuring a recessed plank door with flanking two and three light flush frame casements that have leaded panes. In the left bays, the central entrance has been replaced by a single light casement, with two and three light casements on either side. There is a two light dormer to the left of centre. Each group of three bays has two rebuilt ridge stacks at the centre. The right end has a 20th-century ground floor canted bay and a first-floor four light casement, with exposed plates in the broad gable. The left end features a ground floor lean-to addition and a first-floor four light casement. The rear of the house includes one, two, and three light casements, two two light dormers, and a 20th-century addition to the rear left with a half hipped roof. Inside, there is exposed framing and a clasped purlin roof.
