Description

Church Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It has a timber frame that is rendered, with both thatched and tiled roofs. Originally, the house had a two-cell lobby entry, which has been extended by one bay to the left and to the rear left. The building is one storey high with an attic. The original entrance has been blocked and replaced with a fixed casement window, with small pane horizontal sliding sashes on either side. There is also a fixed window in the newly added left bay and a three-light casement window in the attic above the original entrance bay. The axial ridge stack has been rebuilt in 19th century gault brick, and the roof is half hipped. On the left end, there are two ground floor two-light casements and a horizontal sliding sash in the attic. To the rear left, there is a 20th century two-bay one-storey and attic wing that features an entrance, casement windows, a tiled roof, and two gabled dormers.
